Hawaii Real Estate – Hale Wai Vista is a New Affordable Housing Project in Waianae

Hale Wai Vista, Phase II, located in Waianae on the Leward Coast of Oahu, has just announced that they have completed a total of 132 affordable housing apartment rentals.  The units are available to families with incomes of between $29,760 to $58,520 per year and cost between $806 to $964 per month in rent.  Honolulu Mayor Peter Carlisle stated, “The affordable-housing shortage can’t be resolved overnight, but projects like this make a difference for families and communities throughout the island.  The 132 units that we are dedicating today offer Leeward Coast families a future in which they can afford a place of their own to call home.”

The project was developed by Hawaii Housing Development Corp., which is a nonprofit organization.  The first phase of the project was completed in 2009 and provided 84 affordable housing units.  Because the development has received government funding, the units are required to remain “affordable” for the next 60 years.
